The magic of abstraction
The exhibition “Poetry of Silence” by photographer Roland Blum is being presented for the first time by the Bechter Kastowsky Gallery in Vienna. From November 7, 2024 to February 1, 2025, the gallery will be showing a selection of Blum’s works, which were mainly created in Namibia. His works, known as abstract photography, combine the precision of photographic details with a painterly gesture. Aerial shots of desert landscapes, captured in the light of the rising sun, create the illusion of powerful brushstrokes through the play of shadows and shapes. The abstraction is created by the unusual perspective, which challenges familiar ways of seeing.
